Away from the pool - what's it like for you?

While we all understand the government's message to stay safe, we know it's frustrating that Halliwick swimming clubs and groups can't meet at the moment. This blog is designed to help us to all keep in touch until we can get back into the pool, to share our experiences (good and bad!) and to give each other ideas of things to do in lockdown.

How have the past few weeks been for you? Here are some questions to get you started:

  • Are you finding new ways to keep active? Maybe you're following Captain Tom's example in the garden, or doing laps of the bathtub? Or are you stretching on the sofa in front of the telly?
  • Are you managing to keep in touch with others from your club or group? If you are, how are you doing it? Maybe you've got to grips with Skype and Zoom, or do you keep in contact through Facebook, texts or on the phone?
  • What are you most looking forward to once we're allowed back to the pool?
  • Is there anything you'd like to see Halliwick AST or your local club or group doing while we're unable to go swimming?
Leave your ideas and comments below to let us know what you think! It will be great hear from you!

  1. Our swimmers and helpers have found it very difficult not being able to swim and meet. Saturdays are very strange at the moment! We have created a WhatsApp group so that our members can stay in touch with each other and that has helped.

  2. Seahorse SC has a Facebook page. It has proved to be useful at this difficult time as many of the swimmers, volunteers and carers have been able to keep in touch. We have encouraged members to post photos or videos of themselves and we have also held competitions. These have included: a Best Seahorse creation, a Bake-Off (best cake) and videos of themselves doing something active. The next challenge for this week will be 'Seahorse has got Talent' - (paintings, drawings etc or videos of themselves singing or dancing).
